Green River
The Green River flows out of the Wind River Mountains through the high desert plains southeast of Jackson. The Green is a smaller river holding mostly browns and rainbows with a few cutthroat. The Green averages around 500 fish per mile, some of which reach trophy proportions.

Green RiverTrips to the Green require an early start to take advantage of the best fishing. The river is about an hour's drive from the ranch, but is well worth the effort of waking up early on vacation.

The best fishing on the Green is in late June through July before temperatures get too warm for fishing during the day. There is a great Gray Drake hatch in July that has every fish in the river looking up. There are also plenty of caddis, golden stones, and yellow sallies at this time. Typically, during August the river warms too much to be fishable during the day and is not worth making the trip. The river rebounds in the fall with good Mahogany and Blue Wing emergences during September and October. Streamer fishing for trophy trout is always a good idea on the Green.

Almost all of your fishing on the Green is done from a boat. Landowners in Wyoming own the streambeds, making wade fishing a rarity. However, this will not diminish your enjoyment of this Western Wyoming gem!

These trips are offered in conjunction with Westbank Anglers.
