Yellowstone
Green River
The world's first national park also happens to be a great place to wet a line. Classic rivers such as the Firehole, Madison, and the Yellowstone still provide some of the best fishing in the country.

YellowstoneTime-tested techniques such as swinging wet flies are productive during hatches, especially on the Firehole and Madison Rivers. Caddis and PMD's are typically the hatches to fish as the season opens in May and June. The Madison has a nice Salmonfly hatch in the beginning of July and also a few Grey Drakes. By mid July, the Firehole is too warm to fish due to all of the thermal water entering from the geysers and we fish other more productive waters. The fishing heats up again in October as the browns from Hebgen Lake make their annual run up the Madison and the Blue Winged Olive’s start hatching on the Firehole.

These rivers require an early start and an hour and a half drive from the ranch. Yellowstone Park requires a separate fishing license. Trips are offered through Westbank Anglers.
